My 2 weeks of KKH posting end quite fast with 1 week in onco ward and the other in obs. In the onco ward, there was no patient at all when i reported there for the first day then it gradually increase to two only... I had learnt about chemo drugs that onco patients had to receive and had saw for myself how terrible the side effects were in the patients.
There was once a patient told me her story and i nearly cried. She was so brave !!! But to her, she got the best things: good and caring husband, fillial children and a stay happy mentality... After her chemo, she experienced severe pain at her back.
While she was crying she said that she was contented with what she have but still she cant bear the thoughts of leaving her husband and children on this world and go. Therfore she persevered then finally the next day, her pain was much better and i felt relieved for her.
Next i went to the obs ward to take care of the pre and post natal mothers and their new born babies. Everything was so fascinating and our lecturer even brought a placenta for us to see too. It felt slimy though.
Then i was lucky to be posted to the nursery twice cause others only got one chance... In there, i fed, dress, clean babies up. It felt so good that i wish to have one myself too... Even though it was tiring but still, it was satifisying to see the baby grow day by day. Once there was also a twin gals, they were so cute and guess what they were Nepal origin. Cool man !!!
However on the last day, i felt so sad to leave because i wouldnt be able to see the babies again. But the, i learnt that not only one has to care for the babies, but also need to understand and affiliate with them or else the bond will be lost and never retrieve back again.. ...
